Timothy Patrick Huselton, Jr., ILEM

Patrick Huselton is the Public Information Officer for the Etowah County Emergency Management Agency (EMA), where he leads public information efforts, emergency communications, and community outreach in support of the agency’s mission of preparedness, response, recovery, and mitigation. Since the formation of the agency in 2025, he has been instrumental in building a strong and effective public communications program while contributing to operational and administrative priorities across the EMA. Patrick holds the Intermediate Level Emergency Manager certification through the Alabama Association of Emergency Managers.

With nearly 15 years of experience in emergency services, Patrick brings a broad, multidisciplinary background to his role. His career includes service as an emergency dispatcher, police records and evidence technician, emergency management officer, reserve law enforcement officer, reserve sheriff’s deputy, and volunteer firefighter. This diverse experience provides him with a comprehensive understanding of emergency operations, incident management, public safety communications, and interagency coordination.

Patrick’s contributions to emergency preparedness and mitigation have been widely recognized. He was nominated for a State of Alabama EMA mitigation award in 2012 for developing a tornado safety drill observation program in partnership with Etowah County schools. He also served on an EMA team honored with a statewide mitigation award for establishing the Shelter Etowah program. During the aftermath of the April 27, 2011 tornado, Patrick worked directly with FEMA for a year to support recovery efforts in Etowah County. He has shared his knowledge with civic groups, retiree organizations, volunteer groups, and thousands of students, educating community members on preparedness and emergency actions.

A native of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, Patrick has lived in Etowah County since 1984. He graduated from Southside High School and later attended Jacksonville State University, where he continues studies in Emergency Management with a minor in Homeland Security.

As Public Information Officer, Patrick is dedicated to ensuring timely, accurate, and transparent communication before, during, and after emergencies. He collaborates closely with local, state, and federal partners to keep residents informed and to promote preparedness initiatives that strengthen community resilience.

Patrick lives in Altoona, Alabama, with his wife, Julie. They have four adult children and are proud grandparents. Outside of his professional work, he enjoys cooking, gardening, kayaking, cheering on the Atlanta Braves and Auburn Tigers, and spending time with his family.
