The National Weather Service in Birmingham has issued a Winter Storm Watch for Etowah County effective from 6pm January 23rd to 6pm Sunday January 25th. During this time Etowah County has the potential for up to 2 inches of snowfall and .25 to .75 inches of ice. The potential for freezing rain also exists, so icy roadways are a possibility. We will continue to monitor this situation as it unfolds and will update our social media as we receive the information. Should icing occur, we would encourage people NOT to drive on the roads until it can be determined if they are safe. Prepare now for this coming weekend weather and don’t wait until it’s upon us to plan.
